Chief Secretary, Government of Chhattisgarh

On 30 November 2020, posted as the 12th Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh Government, Shri Amitabh Jain was born on 21 June 1965 in Durg. He did his schooling in Dalli Rajhara in the Balod district of Chhattisgarh. He has been a topper in the Higher Secondary 11th Board in undivided Madhya Pradesh. After obtaining a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bhopal, Mr. Jain joined Delhi IIT. He has obtained an M.Tech degree. The first posting of Shri Jain, a 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, was in June 1990 as Assistant Collector in Jabalpur, undivided Madhya Pradesh. In the district administration, he worked in Neemuch, Baikunthpur, and Gwalior. After this, he served as Collector in Rajgarh, Chhatarpur, and Hoshangabad. After the formation of the Chhattisgarh state, Shri Jain was the collector of Raipur and Bilaspur. Shri Jain has discharged the responsibilities of various important departments as Secretary, Principal Secretary, and Additional Chief Secretary in the Government of Chhattisgarh. Prior to being the Finance Secretary of the state for the last four years, he worked in the departments of Raj Bhavan, Commerce, and Industry, Public Works, Public Relations, Excise, Commercial Tax (GST), Forest, Planning, Economic and Statistics, Home Jail, Transport, Water Resources. Is. During his seven-year deputation to the Government of India, Shri Jain has also been Director/Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Minister (Economic) in the Indian High Commission, London.
